This is a wonderful early 20th century evening wear waistcoat / vest dating either to the Edwardian era or a little later. It features woven satin striping arranged in vertical rows against a faille background. The back of the vest is made of a patterned satin. The vest is made with wide cut front with no lapels. It is cutaway at the bottom front, so as to finish in “points”. It closes with three stud buttons, although the stud buttons are no longer present - you can find these online or from a local antique dealer. I’m unsure as to fabric - probably a silk front, but possibly natural rayon, and a satin back that probably is rayon.
The vest should fit a medium size. It measures 40” around the chest, taken at the bottom of the arm openings and 38” around the waist - there is no adjustment belt at the back. Both measurements are just, so you should be smaller than that for the vest to fit properly. It measures 10” across the top and 22” in length to the bottom points, measured flat. It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, and is clean and ready for use.
This is a very nice mens black waistcoat with attractive satin striping...
