Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a pair of 1940s seamed nylon stockings made in Canada under the “Phantom” brand name by the National Hosiery Mills of Hamilton, Ontario.  I have six of these 1940s seamed nylon stockings for sale - the six came in their original box (see photo of box), but please note that the price is for one pair only.  Each individual pair of these 1940s seamed nylon stockings came in its own printed cellophane package as shown in the first photo.  The cellophane has become brittle, so only one pair has a perfect cello package, two more have splits, two others have the cello but it is really split up and one pair has no package.  I will ship the best first, but cannot guarantee that you will get an intact cello package.  These 1940s seamed nylon stockings are made of nylon, with Cuban heels. Each is stamped with “Phantom Gossamer C-I-L Nylon Yarn Made in Canada 9 1/2”.  C-I-L was Canadian Industries Limited, and was granted the Canadian license to produce Dupont nylon in 1939.  In 1942, they built the second factory to be built in the world dedicated to producing nylon.  Due to anti-trust legislation, C-I-L lost the license to produce nylon in 1954, so these stockings have to pre-date that year.  They are in an interesting green tone of brown that Phantom called Sonata (as marked on the box and the Henry Morgan & Co price ticket.  These 1940s seamed nylon stockings originally cost $2.95.  Each is in like-new condition as they are unused - the box has some minor wear.  Fun phantom image of a lady’s face on both the box and cello package.  Fabulous collectible 1940s seamed nylon stockings!
