Vintage 50s Charles Knox Trilby Hat Narrow Brim Fedora 7 1/4

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage Charles Knox trilby or narrow brim fedora hat.  The sweatband is blind embossed with “Made in Canada Under License” and most likely was made by Biltmore of Canada.  Biltmore has always been a quality maker, and was the official producer of the Knox brand in Canada. This Charles Knox trilby is made in dark charcoal grey beaver fur felt.  It has a narrow brim that can be worn up or down, as desired, and could be worn back on the head, ska-style (see photos).  The crown of the trilby has a black grosgrain band around its base that is decorated with a bow at the left side and a feather at the right side.  The top of the lining is printed with “Charles Knox New York Hatter Since 1833” while the sweatband is gold stamped with “Genuine Beaver”.  The trilby is sized as a 7 1/4 - it measures 22 7/8” around the sweatband and 6 5/8” by 8 1/8” across the opening.  The brim measures 1 1/2” in width and the crown measures 4 3/4” in height.  This Charles Knox trilby is in very good condition with just a bit of creasing to the sweatband (see photos) - please ignore any reddish areas on the band as this is caused by photo lighting.  This Charles Knox trilby is clean, but a cleaning would always be beneficial.  This is a very attractive Charles Knox trilby - nice quality!
