Vintage 50s English Houndstooth Wool Coat Mens Overcoat Sz L

This is a men’s English wool coat dating to the 1950s.  The wool is blended with cashmere and woven in a fine houndstooth pattern.  This wool coat has high set medium width notched lapels and padded shoulders.  It has a three button front and has a large flapped patch pocket at either side as well a 16 1/2” centre kick vent at the bottom back.  It is cut with a slight flare through the body to the hemline.  The sleeves are finished with turned half cuffs.  This wool coat is half lined in grey satin fabric.  The wool is of a lighter weight so this wool coat is more appropriate for cool winter temperatures rather than harsh cold.

Union label:  Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America that was used between 1949 and 1962

Sizing: No size is indicated on this wool coat, but this will fit a tall large size (probably a US 44), depending on preference for fit and whether you will wear a jacket underneath - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the wool into consideration) and note the sleeve length as I think that this is meant for someone tall:

Shoulders: 21” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 27” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 16 3/4” long

Chest: 49” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 50” around

Hips:  51” around

Overall length: 45", measured from the back neck seam to the hemline

Condition:  This wool coat is in very good condition - no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or odour.  This has been well cared for and stored over the years.
