Vintage 50s Cocktail Dress w Jacket Floral Gold Brocade Sz L

This is a striking vintage 50s cocktail dress dating to the late 1950s that comes with a matching jacket.  This 50s cocktail dress has a scoop neckline, cap sleeves and a defined waistline.  The jacket is loose fitting with no closures and has elbow length sleeves.  There is a bow applied both to the left waist of the dress and to the upper right of the jacket.  The dress is nicely constructed, unlined and closes at the left side with a Lion brand pull metal zipper.  The dress is made in a below the knee length. 

Fabric:  Gold toned brocade, very striking 

Label: Canadian International Ladies Garment Workers Union label that was used from 1956 until 1967

Sizing: No size is indicated on this 50s cocktail dress, but this should fit a large size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior:

Dress:

Bust: about 38” around, taken under the arm openings

Waist: 32” around

Hips:  38”, could extend to 42”, but meant to have a centre pleat

Overall length: 40“, measured flat

Jacket:

Shoulders: 16” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  17” from the shoulder seam

Bust:  40” with a small gap at the front opening

Condition: This 50s cocktail dress is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors. It looks like this it saw little use and was very well kept over the years.
