1930s Robe Womens Silk Dressing Gown Vintage Lingerie Size M

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This product is unavailable

This is a vintage early 1930s womens silk dressing gown/lounging robe made in a striking chartreuse green color.  The silk has a floral design throughout.  The robe has a collar that is trimmed in lace and there are also lace insets at the shoulder, front and back, as well as at the ends of the sash belt that is used to cinch the waist.  The sleeves are slightly batwing shaped, wide at the shoulder and tapering to the cuff.  The robe closes at the neckline with a loop and button at the left, under the collar, as well as with a drawstring and snap at the interior right.  Otherwise, there are no other closures and the robe is secured at the waist with the sash.  The robe is unlined.

Age: early 1930s

Label: Dunning.  I believe that Dunning was a Canadian lingerie manufacturer.

Color: Bright chartreuse green with ecru colored lace

Material: No content label, but fabric is certainly silk

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders: 12” across from inside edge of lace inset to inside edge of lace inset - the ball of your shoulder fits into the cap of the sleeve

Sleeves: 22 1/2” long

Sleeve Inseam: 17” long

Chest: 38”-39” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 34” around, but meant to be cinched with the belt

Hips:  38” around

Overall length: 52", measured flat

This robe has not been cleaned, and does have three grayish black marks and some moisture stains on the right side front interior (see last photo).  The darkish marks are visible on the exterior, and it appears that someone tried to work on removing these from the interior, which made some water/moisture stains on the interior that are not visible on the exterior.  I did not want to hand wash the robe for fear of affecting the silk finish.  If you have a good dry cleaner that knows how to treat vintage pieces, the marks may come out or at least the moisture stains should disappear, but no guarantees.

Gorgeous early 30s dressing gown....difficult to find these from that era, especially in this condition, so a couple of light stains should be tolerated....
