Vintage Pure Cashmere Mens Overcoat Linea Due Navy Blue Coat Large XL 46

$195.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a pre-owned 100% pure cashmere coat dating most likely to the early 1990s, made in Canada under the “Linea Due” label.  The fabric is very soft and of nice quality.  It is made in a dark navy blue colour, almost black.  The coat is made in a relaxed style with raglan sleeves, small squared collar, three hidden button closure with a visible button at the neck, slanted side pockets, button down belt at each cuff and a 19” kick pleat.  The body of the coat is cut so as to gradually flare to the hemline.  The coat is fully lined in black satin rayon.  The exterior is a lighter weight cashmere, not thin, but not thick.

Label:  Linea with “Due” in small letters / 100% Cashmere

Union label: ACTWU union label.  The Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union merged with the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union in 1995 to form the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees (UNITE).  ACTWU was formed in 1976, so the coat has to date to between 1976 and 1995 - I would estimate early 1990s, although it might have been made slightly earlier than that.

Sizing: The union label also reads Reg in print and 40 in handwritten ink, but this is larger than that and most likely for someone tall, I would estimate a size 46 due to the chest measurement (note that North American coat sizes are generally 4” smaller than the chest measurement).  Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of the garment into consideration as well as if you are intending on wearing a jacket underneath):

from the estimated shoulder; 35 1/2" taken from the mid-neck seam down the arm

Shoulders across:  20"

Sleeves: 26"

Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/2” long

Chest: 50” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 52”

Hips:  54”

Overall length: 48“, measured flat

Condition:  Although pre-owned, this coat is in very good condition - it’s obvious that it saw very little use.  It is very clean and has a nice finish.

This is a nice quality Canadian made coat - cashmere coats were much better made 25 or 30 years ago before Asian imports became available in the market.  Great coat if it fits!
