Vintage 1950s Mens Cardigan Sweater Orange Wool Knit Sz M

$135.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1950s mens cardigan sweater made in a wonderful orange coloured pure wool.  This 1950s mens cardigan sweater does up with six orange buttons for an open neckline, but has an additional three loops to close the collar around the neck.  It has slightly dropped sleeves (seam falls off the shoulder cap on the upper arm).  There is a small pocket at either bottom front side.  The area around the upper chest/neck area of this 1950s mens cardigan sweater is reinforced and the wool is knit in a vertical rib.

Label: Warren Knit Canada’s Finest Since 1877 St, Catharines, Ont. Mothproofed With Mitin.  Mitin FF was introduced in 1948 and was mixed with the dye in order to protect against moths.  It was popular through the 1950s, but eventually replaced for the most part by other mothproofing chemicals.

Material:  Pure Wool in a fairly thick knit

Sizing: There is no size label, and although this 1950s mens cardigan sweater appears to be a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of this 1950s mens cardigan sweater into consideration (your body measurements should be slightly smaller):

Shoulder:  18” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

Sleeves:  23 1/2” with the cuff unturned

Sleeve inseam:  19”

Chest: 42” around

Bottom band: 40”

Overall length: 25", measured flat

Condition:  This 1950s mens cardigan sweater is in very good condition with no wear, tear or pulls, but with one missing neck button and some replacement buttons that match quite well.  The cuffs had been turned, so some dust had accumulated in the fold and caused a bit of soiling - just needs a laundering.  There are, however, as mentioned, some replacement buttons - some of the buttons have two visible holes, while the others have none.  The neck buttons have none, but the bottom neck button is missing (see close-up photo).

This is a wonderful vintage 1950s mens cardigan sweater - nice quality, attractive colour!
