This is vintage 1980s era sewing fabric that is printed with a very 80s looking pattern. The print looks to have been influenced somewhat by the Memphis design group of Milan, perhaps less geometric, but the colours!. The black hearts, suns and Xs remind me a bit of Keith Haring. In any case, definitely a product of its time. I believe that the fabric is a polyester or acrylic knit - it has a bit of stretch to it. The fabric is unused in a bolt that measures 59” in width including the selvedge. The selvedge is printed with the colour registers, but no maker’s name. There are 3.3 yards of length. This fabric was acquired from the liquidation of an old Canadian garment manufacturing business and was simply sitting in inventory for the last 30 or so years.
This is fun fabric to find unused like this - 80s design is making a comeback!
