1990s Vintage Escada Top Horse Racing Printed Cotton Size 44

This is a vintage Escada top dating to the early 1990s.  This vintage Escada top is printed with horse racing related motifs - horse bits and harness, horseshoes, top hats and binoculars.  The print is in strong colours of blue, yellow, red and grey against a black background.  The top is made in a simple form with scoop neck, long sleeves and upper thigh length.   It is unlined.

Label: Escada Margaretha Ley Made in Germany.  Escada was founded in 1976 by Margaretha Ley and her husband Wolfgang.  Margaretha passed away in 1992 and had been the principle designer for Escada before her passing.  The Made in Germany dates the manufacture of this vintage Escada top to after German reunification in 1990, so this probably dates to right around 1991, before Ley’s passing. 

Fabric label: 100% cotton.

Sizing: German size 44 is indicated, which is equivalent to a US size 16. Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style into account:

Shoulders:  19” across seam-to-seam 

Sleeves:  22” from the shoulder seam

Sleeve inseam:  17”

Bust: 48” around, taken under the arms

Bottom:  44” around

Overall length: 26", measured flat

Condition:  This vintage Escada top is in excellent condition with no wear, tear, stains or odour.  It looks to have seen very little use and was well stored over the years.
