This is a vintage 1950s Rat Pack suit made of a shiny brown fabric, possibly a blend of wool and silk.  The shoulders of the jacket to this 1950s Rat Pack suit are substantially padded and the lapels are notched, high set and fairly narrow.  The jacket has a three button closure and three buttons at each sleeve cuff.  There is a flapped pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest.  The jacket is half lined in woven acetate fabric and has a longer silhouette.  The pants are pleated, have turned cuff legs and have a metal zipper fly.  This 1950s Rat Pack suit is hand tailored - excellent quality.

Age: late 1950s, Rat Pack era

Label: A. Gold & Sons St. Catherine Street Montreal “The House Of Gold”.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this 1950s Rat Pack suit, as it was custom tailored, but this should fit a large size, probably a size 42.  Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior:

Sleeves: 24 1/2” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/2” long

Chest: 46” around

Waist: 44” around

Overall length: 31 1/2“, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Pants:

Waist: 38” - this was let out

Leg Inseam: 27” long

Overall length: 40 1/2“

Condition: This 1950s Rat Pack suit is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour except for the back waist of the pants where they were let out (enlarged).  You can see that the belt loop in off-centre and had been re-stitched (see last close-up photo).  Otherwise, this 1950s Rat Pack suit looks great and was well kept over the years.

This is a wonderfully styled 1950s mens suit - nice quality fabric!
