Vintage West German Pottery Vase Blue Fat Lava Glaze 1268-27
This striking vintage West German pottery vase features a deep blue and black “fat lava” glaze with a matte texture and organic patterning. It has a cylindrical form that tapers gently at the shoulder to a narrow neck with a small opening. The interior is glazed in glossy brown.
The base is impressed “1268-27 W. Germany”—the small lowercase y in Germany and the reddish-brown clay body are clues as to the maker, and although I haven’t been able to positively identify the maker, the use of red clay and the style of the marking may indicate Roth as the maker.
