Vintage Pierre Balmain Silk Scarf Square Black & White Ferns
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a square Pierre Balmain silk scarf made in France. This Pierre Balmain silk scarf features a print of ferns in white against a black background. The scarf has a hand rolled edge. It is printed within the pattern with “Pierre Balmain Paris”. Pierre Balmain (1914-1982) apprenticed with Molyneux and designed alongside Christian Dior for Lucien Lelong. He started his own fashion house in 1945, a year before Dior started his house. He is known for use of sombre colours and dressed famous actresses such as Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth.
Age: Difficult to date precisely, but I believe 1970s,
Label: Made in France / All Silk
Size: 30 1/4” square
Condition: This Pierre Balmain silk scarf is in very good condition with the exception of two small light pink stains, probably caused by lipstick or makeup - I have not had the scarf dry cleaned, so these may very well come out. Otherwise, this scarf looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a wonderful vintage Pierre Balmain silk scarf - the ferns almost look like fireworks….
