Vintage Di-Elle Italian Wool Underslip – Ribbed Knit Thermal Vest – 1970s–1980s

This is a vintage Italian sleeveless wool-blend underslip or long thermal vest by Di-Elle, probably dating to the 1970s or 1980s. Made in Italy from a fine, lightweight knitted fabric consisting of 85% wool and 15% acrylic, it was designed to provide an additional layer of warmth beneath clothing.

The garment is made in a cream-white colour and features a deep V-shaped crossover neckline, with delicately scalloped lace trimming along the edges. The bust is shaped with curved seams and small darts, providing definition above the closely fitted, finely ribbed body.

The sleeveless design has relatively wide shoulder straps, with matching narrow lace trim around the armholes. The back has a shallow rounded neckline, also finished with lace edging.

The body is knitted in a fine vertical rib that allows considerable stretch, fitting closely through the waist and hips. The garment extends to the upper thigh, depending on the wearer's height, and is finished with a simple, narrow knitted hem.

The original Di-Elle label identifies the garment as Italian-made, with a composition of 85% wool and 15% acrylic. The original care label is also present.
