Vintage Austrian Blue Rhinestone & Faux Pearl Demi-Parure 1950s Cupcake Dome Brooch

Dating to approximately the 1950s or early 1960s, this vintage Austrian costume jewellery set consists of a large dimensional rhinestone brooch with a matching pair of clip-on earrings. The brooch has the distinctive high-domed or “cupcake dome” construction associated with some mid-century costume jewellery and is marked “AUSTRIA” on the reverse.
The brooch is densely arranged with faceted glass rhinestones in several shades of blue, including pale blue, sapphire and very deep blue. Round, oval and other faceted stones are combined with smaller aurora borealis rhinestones, which reflect varying shades of blue, green, violet and gold.
Large champagne-cream faux pearls are distributed throughout the design, contrasting with the blue glass stones. The rhinestones are individually prong-set in silver-tone metal, while the faux pearls are glued into their settings.
The matching earrings use the same combination of materials in smaller floral clusters. Each is centred with a large faux pearl surrounded by six blue and aurora borealis rhinestones and retains its original clip-on fitting.

Condition:
The set is in very good condition. The rhinestones are all present and retain good colour and sparkle. The brooch pin and earring clips are intact.
