Vintage 1990s Franciscan Desert Rose Platter 14 1/4” Made in England
This is a vintage Franciscan Desert Rose platter dating to the 1990s. The backstamp dates the piece to the 1990s and that it was made in England. In 1984, the rights to the Franciscan line were acquired from Gladding McBean by the Johnson Bros division of the Wedgwood group and manufacturing was moved to Staffordshire, England. In 2003, it was moved overseas to China. The English manufactured Franciscan dishes compare favourably to the American made ones and are also guaranteed dishwasher and microwave safe. The platter measures about 10 1/4” by 14 1/4”. It is in excellent condition with no noted wear, crazing, chips or cracks - the piece is very clean and looks unused. Nice addition to a collection or just as a standalone platter to use and display!
