Vintage 1970s Artisan Leather 2 Piece Set / Boho Lace Up Leather Vest & Skirt Outfit Signed

Vintage 1970s Artisan Leather 2 Piece Set / Boho Lace Up Leather Vest & Skirt Outfit Signed

$195.00

This two piece leather outfit is made in a warm caramel tan leather and consists of a cropped lace-up vest top paired with a matching high waisted skirt. Both pieces are decorated with hand decorated floral inspired motifs in red, green and dark brown tones, giving the set a distinctly bohemian late 1960s to 1970s aesthetic.  I believe that the design was applied using a combination of pyrography and dye.  The skirt is signed at the bottom with “Pier Edouard” - this was most likely made in Quebec, at a time when artisan leather was very popular there. The edges and panel seams are finished with leather trim, while the front lacing on both the top and skirt allows for some adjustment to the fit.

The leather has developed a rich patina over time and the hand applied decoration gives the set a wonderful folk art / hippie boutique look reminiscent of festival and counterculture fashions of the era. An unusual and eye-catching matching set.
