Vintage 1930s Negligee Peach Rayon Jacquard with Lace & Net Bust, Art Deco Lingerie
This is an elegant late 1920s–early 1930s negligee, beautifully executed in a soft peach-toned rayon jacquard woven with an allover floral motif. The design reflects the modern lingerie aesthetic of the interwar period, when luxury “art silk” rayon was favoured for its fluid drape and luminous surface.
The negligee is cut in a long, columnar silhouette intended to fall loosely over the body, with no defined waist seam. The bust is softly shaped and features embroidered net panels with lace trim, creating a sheer nude effect typical of higher-quality lingerie from this era. Wide shoulder straps frame a low, scooped back; the upper back edge is lightly elasticized, allowing for flexibility in fit while maintaining the garment’s original line.
The fabric displays a woven floral jacquard rather than a print, a detail associated with better-made lingerie of the period. The colour, construction, and silhouette are consistent with negligees produced circa 1928–1935, prior to the more structured and overtly glamorous lingerie styles of the later 1930s and 1940s.
Origin
Maker unknown; typical of high-quality lingerie produced in the late 1920s to early 1930s. Most likely part of a honeymoon wedding trousseau

This 1930s negligee is a refined and increasingly scarce example of interwar lingerie - certainly rather risqué with the nude bust….designed for visual impact!
