Victorian Sheet Music Meet Me at the Mill 1883 | Andy M. Kee | Chicago Music Co.

$65.00

This is an attractive example of late Victorian American sheet music - Meet Me at the Mill was published in 1883 by The Chicago Music Co. with New York distribution through Wm. A. Pond & Co. The words and music are by Andy M. Kee, and the cover notes that it was "As Sung by Miss Fanny Knight."

The beautifully illustrated lithographed cover depicts a young Victorian woman seated beneath a tree beside a picturesque mill and waterwheel, reflecting the romantic aesthetic so popular in nineteenth-century sheet music. The illustration is finely executed and displays very well, making this an appealing decorative piece as well as a collectible for music historians.

The interior contains the complete score for voice and piano over four printed pages, with the sixth (rear cover) left blank as issued.

Condition

The sheet music remains in very good condition. There is light age toning consistent with its age, slight edge and corner wear, and the middle sheet is loose. A faint pencil notation appears on the cover along with an old pencilled "1883" notation near the lower margin.
