Royal Doulton Flambé Elephant HN891B – Charles J. Noke – 1926–1962 As Is
This is a Royal Doulton Flambé elephant designed by Charles J. Noke, model HN891B. The figure features a raised trunk and a rich oxblood red glaze with characteristic black shading to the ears, feet, tail and trunk tip. The Flambé glaze pools beautifully across the body, creating depth and tonal variation typical of Royal Doulton’s early 20th century production.
The underside bears the Royal Doulton backstamp with the lion and crown mark and “Flambé” designation. This model was produced between 1926 and 1962 - difficult to be more precise regarding dating, but the quality is consistent with an earlier production piece.
Measurements:
Length: 7 3/4"
Height: 5 1/2" (measured at the top of the head)
Condition: There is a small chip to the tip of each tusk, visible in the close-up photographs. There are also a few small white pinprick marks in the glaze; these may be original firing imperfections consistent with Flambé production. No cracks or repairs observed. Displays very well. This Royal Doulton Flambé elephant is being sold “as is” at an attractive price that takes condition into account.
A classic example of Royal Doulton’s celebrated Flambé animal figures — striking in colour and an appealing size for cabinet display.
