Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book – 1923 Roycroft Edition in Embossed Suede Leather
A beautifully produced Roycroft edition of Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book, published in 1923 by The Roycrofters of East Aurora, New York. This substantial volume gathers together the passages, quotations, essays, poetry, and literary excerpts that Hubbard collected and treasured throughout his lifetime, creating one of the most enduring publications associated with the Roycroft movement.
Bound in richly embossed brown suede leather with gilt lettering to the front cover and spine, the book reflects the craftsmanship and design principles that made Roycroft publications highly sought after by collectors of the American Arts and Crafts movement. Decorative cover tooling, quality paper, distinctive typography, and period illustrations combine to create a volume that is both visually striking and highly readable.
The book includes photographic views of the Roycroft campus, a portrait of Elbert Hubbard, an introductory foreword by the publishers, and hundreds of pages of inspirational selections drawn from literature, philosophy, history, and notable writers from around the world.
An attractive addition to a Roycroft collection, Arts and Crafts library, decorative book collection, or early twentieth-century American literary collection.
