Vintage 1950s Paquin Paris Evening Gown Formal Dress Size M
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a designer vintage evening gown from the venerable Paris fashion house of Paquin. It features lovely quality long black evening dress featuring the quality fabric and attention to detail that one would expect from a high-end 1950s Parisian fashion house. The dress is cut in a deceivingly simple style, but falls beautifully on the body. It has 3/4 length sleeves, small tucks at the shoulder seams and a decorative bow at the left side of the waist. The upper back has a wide squared opening and the skirt falls in such a way as to form a long center panel. The dress is fully lined in black silk and does up the back with a metal zipper. The design of this dress pre-dates its period - it has the look of a 60s evening gown although it dates somewhere before 1956.
Label: Paquin Pret a Porter Paris Londres. The House of Paquin acquired the London operations of Worth in 1946, and in 1954, their Paris operations. Of course, Paquin was founded by legendary Parisian designer Jeanne Paquin in 1891. She was one of a handful of important Parisian fashion designers active during the early 20th century - others included Paul Poiret and the House of Charles Worth. She withdrew from her business in 1920, but the design house continued under other management until 1956.
