This is a 1980s vintage Victor Costa ball gown made in red velvet and sold at Holt Renfrew.  This vintage Victor Costa ball gown is strapless and has a sweetheart neckline, a V shaped dropped waistline and a full skirt in a full length.  The dress is lined with black voile and supported by two layers of red tulle.  The dress is lined in red satin and does up the back with a nylon zipper.  It has both interior and exterior velvet shoulder straps.

Label: Victor Costa - this particular label appears to have been used during the 1980s, so the dress would date to the late 80s or early 90s.  Victor Costa started with Suzy Perrette in 1965, copying Paris models for the label.  In 1974 he bought out the Ann Murray company, renaming it Victor Costa.  He is known for copying French and American designer clothing and offering his versions at a more affordable price.

This vintage Victor Costa ball gown also has a “Crafted with Pride in the USA” - this label was first used in 1984 and used into the early 1990s.

Retailer label:  Holt Renfrew.  Holt Renfrew is a Canadian department store chain that sells only designer, quality private label and luxury goods.

Content label:  65% acetate / 35% rayon

Sizing: Size 8 is indicated, but this vintage Victor Costa ball gown should fit a size small, so please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Waist: 26” around

Hips: Full

Overall length: 61”, measured flat from the top of the strap to the hemline

Condition:  This vintage Victor Costa ball gown is in very good condition - clean with no wear, tear or other defect except that the interior shoulder strap on the left side needs restitching as it is partially detached.  Otherwise, this vintage Victor Costa ball gown looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years.
