Antique Wedgwood Fallow Deer Pattern Luncheon Plate with Gold 9.25” Diameter
This antique Wedgwood Fallow Deer luncheon plate was made at the Etruria works in England and dates to the late Victorian or Edwardian period, likely circa 1891–1909 based on the printed backstamp. The brown transferware design features a pastoral country scene with fallow deer in the foreground, rustic cottages, and flowering botanical borders surrounding the central reserve. It is generously decorated within the centre indent with gold. The richly gold decorated brown transfer pattern give the piece a distinctly aesthetic movement feel associated with fine English transferware of the turn of the century.
The pattern combines romantic rural imagery with ornate floral ornamentation, reflecting the popularity of nature-inspired decorative wares produced by Wedgwood during this period. The plate has a shallow form and measures 9 1/4" in diameter, making it a luncheon plate that today makes an attractive cabinet display piece.
