Antique Nippon Hand Painted Bowls Maple Leaf Mark Violets & Raised Gold – Pair

Antique Nippon Hand Painted Bowls Maple Leaf Mark Violets & Raised Gold – Pair

$95.00

This is a very pretty pair of antique Nippon hand painted bowls featuring delicate violet blossoms and green foliage with raised beaded gilt decoration in an Art Nouveau style ribbon and scroll motif. The scalloped rims are finished with gold beading and accent work.

One bowl retains the blue Nippon maple leaf Hand Painted mark - this mark was used as early as 1891. The second bowl is unmarked but matches in form, decoration, and workmanship, and was very likely produced by the same studio or decorator.

Measurements (each):
Diameter: 5 1/8" across the top
Height: 1 1/4"

Condition: These antique Nippon hand painted bowls are in very good condition. No cracks or chips observed. The gilt is shiny with no noted wear - both display beautifully.

These are lovely examples of Nippon export porcelain — very pretty display pieces!
