1970s Men's Seersucker Leisure Suit Riviera Canada Safari Style
A vintage 1970s men'sĀ seersucker leisure suit by Riviera Canada, consisting of a short-sleeved shirt-style jacket and matching flared trousers. Made in Canada from 100% polyester, the two-piece suit combines blue and white striped seersucker with the safari-influenced styling associated with 1970s menswear.
The shirt-jacket has a large pointed collar, button front, buttoned shoulder epaulettes and two large patch breast pockets with buttoned flaps. The short sleeves have turned-back cuffs, and there are small side vents at the hem. The combination of epaulettes and flap pockets gives the leisure suit a definite safari-style influence, another popular element of 1970s menswear.
The matching trousers have a fitted waistband with belt loops, front slash pockets and two welt pockets at the back. The legs flare towards the hem, measuring approximately 19 inches around at the cuffs.
The matching shirt-jacket and trousers are characteristic of the men's leisure suits of the 1970s, with the seersucker fabric providing a variation on the more commonly encountered solid-coloured polyester examples of the period.
The Riviera label is accompanied by a size 38 tag. The care label identifies the fabric as 100% polyester and states that the outfit was made in Canada.
