Vintage 1960s Black Wool Coat with Mouton Fur Trim – Dr Zhivago Style Size S

Vintage black wool coat with cream mouton fur trim is an example of 1960s winter fashion. The coat features a Russian-inspired design reminiscent of the coats seen in Doctor Zhivago (1965), with a side button closure, tailored shaping seams, and contrasting fur trim at the collar, cuffs, and hem.

The coat is made from corded pure virgin wool with a vertical ribbed texture that gives the fabric structure and warmth. The interior is fully lined with an interlined satin lining for additional warmth, making this coat suitable for colder weather.

The mouton fur collar is attached with long threads and closes with hooks and eyes. The collar is currently detached in a couple of places and can be reattached or adjusted by the new owner if desired.

The coat was made by Gordi Fashions Montreal and is labeled Pure Virgin Wool – Made in Canada.  Coats in this Dr Zhivago / Russian style were very popular in the mid-1960s after the release of the film Doctor Zhivago in 1965 and are now considered iconic mid-century winter fashion.

Condition

Very good condition. The mouton collar is detached in a couple of places where it was originally attached with long threads and can be easily reattached or adjusted. Some wear to the union label.  Otherwise, the coat presents very well and is in very wearable condition.
