1980s Vintage Thierry Mugler Coat Size 40 Made in France

This is a 1980s vintage Thierry Mugler coat made in France.  This vintage Thierry Mugler coat is made in a wrap style, with the right side buttoning to the upper left - there is also an interior button that attaches to the inner left side edge.  It has a high neck with rounded upper edge and raglan style long sleeves. There is a pocket built into the left side with an opening behind the pocket that allows you to access a jacket pocket should you be wearing a suit or jacket.  There is also a pocket built into the right edge that becomes an inner pocket when the coat is buttoned.  The black exterior fabric is backed in the same fabric, but in a beige/cream colour. The coat is cut with a flare to the bottom so that it falls in drapes to a lower knee length.  This vintage Thierry Mugler coat is more of an evening or fall coat than a cold winter weather coat.

Label: Thierry Mugler Paris Made in France.  Thierry Mugler was celebrated during the 1980s and 90s for his ultra modern and avant grade designs.  

Material: The content label reads “70% wool / 15% angora rabbit fur / 15% cashmere.  The fabric on this vintage Thierry Mugler coat has a beautiful finish and is very soft.

Sizing: The size label on this vintage Thierry Mugler coat reads French size 40 which should be equivalent to a US size 8, and although this should fit a medium size, please note on the following measurements, noting that this is meant to have an oversized fit:

Shoulders:  16” across, estimated, due to raglan cut 

Sleeves:  26” from the estimated shoulder / 34” from the mid-neck to the sleeve cuff

Sleeve inseam:  

Bust:  44” around, meant to hang loosely

Waist: 46” around

Bottom:  84” with overlap

Overall length: 38“, measured flat

Condition:  This vintage Thierry Mugler coat is in exception condition, but please note that it appears that there was an opening on the right side seam that was sewn closed (see last close-up photo).  This possibly was meant to accommodate a belt that would pass through the opening on the left side.  Otherwise, this vintage Thierry Mugler coat is clean with no other wear, tear, holes or odour - this coat looks to have seen little use.
