This is a vintage John Warden skirt suit made of burgundy coloured cotton corduroy.   The jacket is made with padded shoulders, shawl lapels and has a single button closure with elasticized back waist and matching sash belt. The sleeves have single button turned cuffs and a pocket at either side.  The skirt is made in a wraparound style with a two button waistband that closes with a button and hook.  Both pieces of this skirt suit are fully lined.

Age: 1973-1976

Label: John Warden Boutique Montreal.  John Warden was an important Canadian fashion designer, a graduate of the Parsons School of Design, New York.  He created collections for a number of major Canadian manufacturers during the 1960s, and for major events such as Expo 67 and the 1976 Summer Olympics as well as uniforms for corporations such as Air Canada and Bell Canada.  He opened his first boutique in 1966 and his first men’s clothing boutique in 1968. 

Union label:  Skirt suit has a ILGWU label used between 1968 and 1984.

Sizing: Size 9/10 is indicated on this skirt suit, and although it should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric into consideration):

Jacket:

Shoulders: 16” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 23 1/2” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17 1/2” long

Chest: 36” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 29” around

Overall length: 35”, measured flat

Skirt:

Waist: 26” -  if you need more, you could move the hook and button

Overall length: 28 1/2“, measured flat

Condition:  This skirt suit is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours.
