This is a lovely quality silk scarf made by the venerable London firm of Welch, Margetson & Co. Ltd.  Welch Margetson was founded in 1824 by Joseph Welch and specialized in the manufacture and retailing of high quality menswear - it closed its doors in 1963, but I believe that the brand was revived more recently for neckties.  The scarf was made for S.W. Howarth of Montreal, which was a popular haberdasher.   The scarf features repeating paisley motifs that are silkscreened in red, blue and dropped out white against a maroon background.  It has a label affixed to one corner that reads “Welch, Margetson & Co. Ltd. London, England Made for S.W. Howarth Ltd. 1444, St. Catherines St. W. Montreal”.  The silk is of a heavier weight, beautiful quality.  The scarf measures 33 1/2” by 36” and is in very good condition with no wear, tear or staining - please ignore any shadows on the scarf, the print is uniform in appearance.

This is a very nice quality vintage mens scarf produced by a well regarded English maker - great accessory!
