This is a silver fox fur cape, dating to the 1940s.  The piece has a squared shape with wide shoulders that have pads and a slight “cap” at either end - fabulous 1940s style!  There are no sleeves or arm openings - one would wear this with the arms contained.  The front is open but the cape is secured at the neck with two fox legs - there are claws at either foot, but if this bothered you, you could cut them off.  The piece is lined in black satin fabric.  There is no label.  The fur is in a brown colour with frosty silver white highlights - the pelts are arranged vertically.  The fur is very full and looks great.

Sizing: Although this should accommodate a range of sizes medium to large, please note the following measurements, taken from the exterior:

Shoulders:  19”-20” across from end to end, including the shoulder caps

Bust:  23” across, 46” around

Length:  30”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition  except for an open seam at either sleeve cap (see last close-up photo).  This probably should eventually be sewn closed, but I think that they don’t pose a problem right down and allow for a bit more movement.  Otherwise, the fur appears to be fresh, with no noticeable shedding - with a little care this should last for many more years..

This is a lovely quality fur - very plush, great style, 1940s glamour!
