This is a vintage nurses cape that is made of two layers of wool - a navy blue exterior with a red wool interior.  Due to its length, I believe that this vintage nurses cape dates to the 1940s, probably used during the WW2 period.  I’ve included a photo from 1943 of military uniforms, including a nurses cape for women - note that either nurses cape shown is in a longer length and similar in construction to this one.  The neck closes with two hooks and eyes and there are two pairs of buttons at the upper bodice and two fabric bridges that secure the cape closed.  There is one button at the interior left bottom that has an extra fabric bridge hanging on it.  There are no pockets or arm holes.  The interior collar is lined in black viscose and there is a chain at the interior neck that would aid in hanging the cape.  There are no markings or initials on this vintage nurses cape.

Label:  None.  It appears that the original label was removed from this vintage nurses cape (see close-up photo of neck chain). There is no size label and although it should fit a medium size, please note the measurements provided.

Shoulders:  17” estimated

Bust:  52” around, has to accommodate the arms as wellLength:  39” long from the back neck seam to the bottom

This vintage nurses cape is in very good condition with no wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour

This is a wonderful vintage nurses cape that could just be used as a cape due to the absence of markings - lovely quality wool!
