Vintage Mens Morning Coat Formal Suit w Striped Pants Sz M L

This is a vintage custom tailored men’s morning coat suit or what some may refer to as a formal cutaway frock coat with striped pants.  Difficult to date precisely, but most likely 1940s era.  It is made of a very good quality black twill woven wool with padded shoulders, a chest pocket, peaked lapels and a single button closure.  There are two buttons at the back and each cuff has three buttons.  The interior of this morning coat is lined in a twill fabric, possibly rayon, but maybe silk, I’m not sure.  This morning coat suit is expertly tailored.  The pants are made in a heavyweight striped woven silk - black stripes with a centre white pinstripe against a twill finished grey broad stripe.  The suspenders, made in Germany by CAS, are included.  The pants have suspender buttons and a Lightning zipper fly - Lightning is a Canadian zipper, so this was most likely made in Canada     

Sizing: The morning coat should fit a medium to large size, perhaps a modern size 42 while the pants have a 38” waist, typical for formal pants as men needed extra room after a large banquet.  Please rely on the following measurements for fit, comparing them to another morning coat and pants that you may own or your body measurements, allowing some room for fit:

Morning Coat:

Shoulders: 20 1/2” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 25” long

Sleeve Inseam: 14 1/2” long

Chest: 46” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 43” around

Overall length: 37“ to the bottom, measured flat at the back

Pants:

Waist:  38”

Inseam:  28” - there is an additional 1 1/2” inside the cuff of the leg

Overall length:  40”

Condition:  It is in very clean condition with no pronounced wear, tear, holes, nibbles, stains or odours.  The cuffs are loose inside the pant leg - I won’t sew them down just in case you need to adjust them

This morning coat and pants are meant for colder weather - the pants are especially wooly.  Wonderful vintage custom tailored quality!
