This is a vintage wool smoking jacket dating to either the 1940s or early 50s.  This vintage wool smoking jacket has padded shoulders, a shawl collar, turned cuffs, a patch pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest.  It is made of a maroon red and black plaid wool fabric and trimmed with corded satin.  It closes with a matching belt and is unlined.

Label: no maker, only “Laine”, which is French for wool

Sizing: Size 4 is indicated, which is a vintage French sizing, and although this vintage wool smoking jacket should fit a man that fits a US size medium to large 40 to 44, please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders: 19 1/2” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 22 1/2” long from the shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/4”

Chest: 48” around

Waist: 44”, meant to be cinched with a belt

Overall length: 30”, measured flat

Condition: This vintage wool smoking jacket is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour - of course, it would benefit from a cleaning and pressing.
