This is a vintage Y2K St John Evening ensemble made in the USA under the St John Evening by Marie Gray label.  This St John Evening ensemble is part of the St John Evening line, which is comparable to the St John Couture line, except that it is meant to be party wear, usually incorporating some kind of glittery embellishment.  One of the labels reads “SP 00”, which is the date code for Spring 2000, so this is a true Y2K outfit.  This St John Evening ensemble consists of a jacket, blouse and matching skirt.  The blouse is made in a simple sleeveless top style with scoop neckline, front and back.  The skirt has an elasticized waistband and is made in a full length straight cut with side slit up the left leg.  Both are in a solid blue colour while the jacket is in the same blue but decorated with horizontal bands of gold detailing that is embellished with gold and silver sequins.  The jacket does up with a hook and eye at the upper bust, but there is also a brooch that came with the jacket.  It has left a pull mark if it is not being utilized - I don’t know if it is original to the ensemble or not, but it really does add a lot to the look of the jacket, so I would certainly use it. 

Material:  Quality knit, I believe 100% wool, but there are no content labels on this St John Evening ensemble.   In any case, excellent quality as one would expect from St John. 

Sizing: Size 6 is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit of this St John Evening ensemble:

Jacket:

Shoulders: 16” across, shoulder seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 24 1/2” long, from the shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/2”

Bust: 38” around, taken under the arms

Length:  22” long, measured flat

Top:

Bust: 36” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  36”,

Overall length: 22"

Skirt:

Waist:  27” to 32”, depending on how stretched the waistband is - comfortable fit would be somewhere in between

Hips:  38”

Overall length: 40 1/2“

Condition: This St John Evening ensemble is in very good condition with the exception of an open seam at the waistline of the skirt, an easy fix.  Otherwise, this St John Evening ensemble is crisp and clean.
