1970 Hobberlin Toronto black tuxedo front view

Vintage Tuxedo Black Wool Mohair Dated 1970 Hobberlin Toronto Custom Tailored

$195.00

This authentic 1970 vintage tuxedo was custom tailored by Hobberlin’s Limited, 145 Yonge Street, Toronto, and is clearly dated November 18, 1970 on the original interior tailor’s label.

Crafted from wool and mohair cloth woven in England (Progress Brand Tailored), the fabric has the crisp hand and subtle sheen associated with quality formalwear of the era. The mohair content gives the jacket structure and a clean drape under evening lighting.

The jacket features a satin-faced shawl lapel, single-button front, jetted pockets, and a streamlined early-1970s silhouette. The trousers are flat-front with a traditional satin side stripe, and with a flare down the calf to the cuff.

A sharp example of Canadian bespoke tailoring from the late 1960s–early 1970s period.
