Vintage Thierry Mugler Cotton Skirt Suit 2 piece Ensemble Size 42 Large 1980s
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a striking 80s era suit or two piece ensemble by Parisian designer Thierry Mugler. The silhouette of this type of structured suit became synonymous with the Mugler brand during the 1980s, and this is a very nice example. The set consists of a top and skirt, both made of finely checked cotton, printed in blue and white intersecting lines. The top has a round white standing collar, rather space-age looking, wide shoulders with large pads, an accented waist with flared peplum and over the elbow length raglan style sleeves. It does up with two white snaps on the collar and eight silver snaps down the front of the jacket. There is a centre box pleat at the front, with a slanted pocket at the left chest, while the back has a number of tucks at the waistline that give the jacket its structure. The skirt follows the lower body silhouette, has a pocket built into either side and does up the back with nine silver snaps, the two at the waist being slanted in configuration.
