This is a very fine and really gorgeous linen handkerchief made on Madeira Island, Portugal. Madeira embroidery is treasured for its beautiful and intricate designs. This hankie features intricate floral designs, lace insetting and “pullwork”. It measures 11 1/2” square and is in excellent condition with the exception of a tiny thread pull and a slight shadow in the center of the piece (see last close-up photo), very minor and easily corrected. This is an exceptional hankie, a beautiful piece for a wedding day.
