This is a cashmere sweater designed by Sonia Rykiel, known as the “queen of the knits”.
The sweater is made in a very attractive broad striped pattern in tones of black, grey and white with added touches of green and red at the opening, the shoulders and the cuffs. It is made in a cardigan style with a V shaped neckline and a five button closure. It has dropped shoulders and long sleeves. There is a pocket at either front side.
Sonia Rykiel began designing in 1962 because she was pregnant and couldn’t find a sweater that would fit her properly. She started her business in 1965 and became noticed by Vogue magazine in 1967. She opened her flagship store in Paris in 1968.
