This is an excellent quality 100% pure cashmere sweater made in Scotland by Pringle for Simpson’s of Canada. It would date either to the early 60s or late 50s. Pringle, of course, is a famous knitted goods manufacturer, renowned for their quality cashmere. This sweater is made in a cardigan style and has a small rounded collar. The body is hand laid with an “intarsia” daisy pattern in white and red against the solid blue background. It has above the wrist length sleeves. The cuffs and bottom are ribbed. The sweater is unlined and has a seven button closure. The cashmere is super soft.
Label: “Simpson’s by Pringle of Scotland” - a second label reads “Intarsia by Pringle Inlaid by Hand Made in Scotland 100% Pure Cashmere”.
