Vintage Pierre Cardin Paris 1960s Mod Dress 2 Piece Suit Top w Skirt Size XS

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1960s mod era 2 piece ensemble consisting of a top and skirt made by Pierre Cardin.  The two pieces are made of brown leather and the top has two applied leather circles at the front, one in light grey and the other in blue.  The top is sleeveless and does up on the front towards the side with a heavy duty metal zipper with pull ring.  It also does up at the top left shoulder with two buttons.  Both pieces are lined in brown rayon and the skirt does up the back with a metal zipper.

Label: Les Vetements de Peau Pierre Cardin Paris Made in France / Exclusively for Bonwit Teller

Material:  Leather - beautiful quality, very soft and supple

Sizing: Size 6 is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the leather into account:

Shoulders:  13” across the top

Bust: 33 1/2”” around, taken under the arm openings

Waist: 31” around

Length: 17 1/2”

Waist: 23” around

Hips: 33” around

Length:  16 1/2”, measured flat

Condition: It is in very good condition with a couple of small problems - one of the shoulder buttons has been replaced by a plastic button (see second to last close-up photo), the zipper pull is missing on the skirt’s zipper and there is a small spot on the front next to the grey circle (see last close-up photo).  I believe that there are replacement pulls, you would have to find a covered leather button that matches and the spot probably could be removed by a leather specialist.

This is a collectible piece of fashion history - Pierre Cardin’s mod period is highly sought after.
