This is a fun display piece! Its a ceramic Paris themed Scotch decanter made in Japan, probably post-war, 1950s or early 60s. The decanter has a centre cut-out that is filled by a Frenchmans head. At the front of the decanter surrounding the Frenchman are images of the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral. The finial is printed with Scotch and has a cork bottom and comes off to access the bottle. He is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs - there is a bit of wear to the ceramic at the top edge of the bottle (see last close-up photo). Also, the original owner thought that Brandy was more appropriate for this decanter, so tried to hand paint Brandy on the opposite side of Scotch - its a little shaky looking, but an option, and you could always remove it if it bothered you. The piece measures 11 1/2 in height to the top of the finial. It is stamped on the underside with Elbro Hand Decorated and with Japan.
This is a very cute display piece for a retro decor or just a fun decanter to store your scotch!
