This is a wonderful vintage smoking jacket / short lounging robe made in a red cotton corduroy with black faille rayon trim. The smoking jacket closes with a matching black sash belt. It has a shawl collar, turned cuffs and applied patch pockets to the left breast and at either side. It is lined in black satin across the upper back only.
Age: 1950s - early 1960s
Label: State O Maine Hahne & Company Men’s Shop. Hahne’s was a New Jersey department store chain with its flagship store located in Newark. It was founded in 1858, but declined significantly during the 1960s and 70s.
Sizing: No size medium is indicated on this smoking jacket, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 18” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 24 1/2” long from the shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 17” long
Chest: 42” around, taken under the arms, approximate, depending on overlap
Waist: 42” around, but meant to be cinched with the sash belt
Overall length: 33", measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or odour - the lining on the upper back has faded to a reddish black, a minor consideration. This smoking jacket was well stored and cared for over the years.
Very attractive smoking jacket in red corduroy with contrasted black trim....sure to be noticed!
