This is a wonderful vintage men’s dressing gown/lounging robe made in a very rich looking woven satin fabric. The pattern consists of “dots” and “circles” in a shiny maroon colour against a black background that has a green cast to it. The robe has a shawl collar and a matching belt with white tassels. It has a breast pocket and an applied patch pocket at either side and the lapels, cuffs and pockets are trimmed in blue and white roping. The fabric is most likely a woven rayon. I believe that it dates to the 1950s, although it is possible that it may date to the 1960s.
Label: Khanel Oustaz with Arabic script. I can’t read Arabic, but I think that this is of Egyptian origin.
Sizing: No size is indicated that I can read, but this should fit a large to extra large size, depending on how loose that you like your robe to be. In any case, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 22” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 24” long
Sleeve Inseam: 18” long
Chest: 50” around, approximate, depending on overlap
Waist: 50”, but meant to be cinched with sash belt
Overall length: 49”, measured flat
Condition: Excellent - this robe looks to have seen little to no use.
This is a beautiful dressing gown – fabulous two toned sheen, very rich looking, sure to be noticed!
