Vintage Men’s Vest Samuelsohn Wool & Cashmere Made in Canada Size 40

This is a vintage men’s vest made in Canada by Samuelsohn, one of Montreal’s most respected manufacturers of fine men’s clothing. This vest is identified by CA number 00212 on the tag, which is registered to Samuelsohn.

The label also reads UNITE / SVTI, indicating the garment was produced after the 1995 amalgamation of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU) and the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU). This places production confidently in the late 1990s to early 2000s, prior to the formation of UNITE HERE in 2004.

The vest is made from a 95% lambswool and 5% cashmere blend, offering a soft hand with structure suitable for tailored wear. It features a classic checked wool front in red and black against a pale yellow ground, five-button closure, notched lapels, welt pockets, and an adjustable back strap for fit. Fully lined with a smooth satin back panel.
