This is a very nice quality vintage 1970s red rain cape designed by Marielle Fleury for Rainmaster - Fleury is considered to have been one of the most influential Quebec designers and her designs are becoming quite sought after. The material is made of a 65% Polyester/35% Cotton blend and is fully lined in red acetate. The cape does up with four red snaps down the upper front and with a double tie at the neckline. It has two openings to allow the arms to exit and has two interior pockets built into the lining.
Label: Rainmaster by Marielle Fleury Made in Canada. Rainmaster was a trademark of Sport Togs, which hired Fleury in 1969 to design a line under her own name.
Sizing: The size label is cut, but this should fit a range of medium to large sizes. Please note the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 18” across, estimated due to raglan cut
Length: 48” at the side from the neckline
Bust: 50” around, meant to hang loosely
Hips: Full - meant to hang loosely
Condition: It is in excellent condition with no wear, tear or stains - this appears to have seen little, if any, use and was well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a wonderful cape in a striking red colour - great acquisition for the Canadian fashion collector or just a great Spring rain piece!
