Vintage Japanese Haori Jacket Black Silk Short Kimono with Metallic Cloud Pattern
This is a vintage Japanese haori, a short kimono jacket traditionally worn over a full kimono.
Made of soft black silk crepe, it features an exceptional Kumo (cloud) design rendered in shimmering gold, silver, and subtle iridescent green highlights. The clouds appear across the sleeves and through the front and back panels, creating the impression of drifting evening sky. The interior is lined in a pale cream jacquard with a woven floral motif.
Haori are designed to be worn open, with a relaxed drape and wide kimono sleeves. This example has a beautiful overall shape and displays exceptionally well both as wearable art and as a collectible textile.
Sizing: would best fit a modern medium, but depending on preference for drape, it could be worn either by a small (looser fit) or large (tighter fit). Please rely on the following measurements (taken flat, approximately)
Across shoulders including sleeves: 52"
Sleeve drop: 19"
Bust (measured around with normal kimono overlap): 44"
Length (back, neck seam to hem): 29 1/2"
Condition: Excellent condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining, soiling or odour. The colours of the cloud design remain vibrant, and the lining is clean.
