Vintage Japanese Black Silk Haori Jacket with Woven Mon
This is an elegant vintage Japanese haori jacket, traditionally worn as a short outer garment over a kimono. This piece is made from black rinzu silk, a jacquard-woven silk with a subtle self-patterned geometric design that becomes visible as the fabric catches the light. The refined weave gives the jacket depth and texture while remaining understated and formal.
The haori features wide kimono-style sleeves, an open front, and a straight, unshaped silhouette that drapes beautifully on the body. At the upper back is a woven kamon (family crest), indicating the garment was originally intended for formal or semi-formal use.
While originally traditional Japanese attire, this haori adapts easily to modern wear and works well layered over dresses, trousers, or minimalist separates. It is meant to be worn open, but one can always use a silk sash to close the jacket. It appears to be entirely hand sewn
