This is a vintage silk scarf made by Inunoo Textiles of Canada featuring a drawing by “Parr”.  Inunoo reproduces images by famous Inuit artists.  Inunoo was started in 1969 with a mission of marketing authentic Eskimo graphic designs on textiles.  Although Inunoo is now privately owned, it pays royalties to the artists or their estates for any items that are sold. The scarf is signed at the lower right with “Parr” and at the lower left with “Inunoo” and their logo.  Parr led a traditional, nomadic, existence for most of his life, but was “discovered” in 1961 by Terry Ryan of the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative.  During the last eight years of his life, and, while in frail health, Parr produced some 2,000 drawings, 35 of which were made into litho prints.  This scarf measures 33” by 34 1/2”.  I believe that the scarf is an older one, probably 70s era - Inunoo doesn’t appear to produce it any longer.

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, odour or silk separations.  I did notice one pinprick hole, but it’s really nothing and shouldn’t bother anyone.  This scarf looks like it was put away unused many years ago.

This is a great scarf , suitable for framing - wonderful Inuit hunting image!
