This is a vintage hand embroidered Indian Banjara wall hanging or throw made in the Kutch style.  The piece is made of a patchwork of red, orange, navy blue and green fabric, embroidered with chain stitching and embedded mirrors.  It is backed with brown fabric.  This Banjara wall hanging appears to be very old - note the old stamps on the backing fabric (I’ve taken a close-up photo of one of the stamps).  It is not perfectly rectangular, measuring 53” along one side and 55” along the side.  The ends both measure about 36” in width.  The piece is in very good condition with the exception of a tear in one green strip (see close-up photo) and some unraveling of border yarn in one place (see close-up photo). 

This is an older example of a Banjara wall hanging - really rather exceptional, this is a wonderful display piece!
